Ways to Give Before Year End

A few important tips and deadlines to keep in mind as you plan your year-end giving.

Cash & Checks

Checks must be postmarked by Thursday, December 31 to count for the 2026 tax year. Mail to 1 Bunting Lane, Naperville, IL 60565. Online gifts by bank account or credit card are accepted through December 31.

Stock & Appreciated Assets

Gifts of low-basis stock can offer meaningful savings on income and capital gains taxes. All stock transfers must be completed by December 31 to count for 2026.

Other Appreciated Assets

Gifts such as mutual funds, real estate, business interests, and insurance are considered case by case. Title must transfer by December 31 to be recorded for 2026.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions

If you are 70½ or older, you can direct up to $111,000 per individual ($222,000 per married couple) from your IRA directly to New Covenant Church in 2026, which can count toward your required minimum distribution.
