New Covenant Church of Naperville

Church and Community Profile

New Covenant Church

An independent evangelical congregation in Naperville, Illinois, we are shaped by confidence in Scripture, a Christ-centered understanding of the gospel, an appreciation for the historic Christian tradition, and a desire to extend tangible love to our neighbors. Our Lead Pastor, Chris Castaldo, has served the congregation since 2014.

Our Mission

These commitments describe both what the church proclaims and the life it seeks to cultivate.

Christ preached from all the Scriptures.

The whole biblical story—from Genesis to Revelation—is centered on Jesus Christ.

Love extended unto the Church, the city, and the world.

The church seeks to equip people to lovingly serve within the congregation, care for neighbors, and share the gospel beyond Naperville.

Lives transformed by the power of the gospel.

Spiritual growth is the gracious work of God, not religious performance.

Theological and Ministry Distinctives

Biblical conviction and historical depth.

We affirm the inspiration and authority of Scripture, the Trinity, salvation through Christ, and theological reflection drawn from Christian history.

Reverent, historically informed worship.

We combine expository preaching with hymns, choral singing, and acoustic instruments to help direct our attention to God.

Doctrine joined to pastoral care.

The church seeks to connect biblical truth with the realities of everyday life: grief, strained relationships, anxiety, spiritual questions, and ordinary struggles of discipleship.

Shared life, discipleship, and service.

Besides Sunday worship, we offer Bible studies, small groups, children’s and youth ministries, prayer, and opportunities for practical service to allow our members to use their gifts for the good of others.

Our Story

1833

The church’s Congregational heritage dates back to 1833, when Naperville’s first congregation formed amid the westward expansion of evangelical missions, Christian education, and church planting.

1965

In 1965, members who wished to preserve historic Congregational principles and local church independence established Naperville Congregational Church.

2011

In September 2011, that congregation united with New Covenant Church, a church plant of College Church in Wheaton, forming the present New Covenant Church of Naperville.

Implications for Pastoral Ministry

This setting calls for clear, intellectually responsible biblical teaching; patient listening and respectful engagement across cultural and religious differences; and pastoral care attentive to the pressures of work, family, relocation, loneliness, aging, and grief.

For New Covenant, these opportunities align with our mission: Scripture clearly proclaimed, Christian love expressed in relationships and service, and lives formed by the gospel. Faithful engagement calls for theological conviction joined to genuine hospitality.
